Eid and Wedding Season: How to Choose a Handbag for Pakistani Formal Wear

AFROZ Royal Canvas Tote with sequin border for festive occasions

In Pakistan, festive season never really ends. There's Eid ul Fitr, Eid ul Adha, and a wedding calendar that fills every winter with mehndis, baraats and walimas. You plan the outfit for weeks — but the handbag is often an afterthought, grabbed at the last minute. The right bag finishes the look. Here's how to choose one for every function.

The golden rule: let the outfit lead

Heavily embroidered outfits need a calmer bag, and simple outfits can carry a statement bag. If your joray is covered in zari, tilla or mirror work, pick a bag in one of its colours with minimal detail. If you're wearing a plain chiffon or silk suit, that's your chance to carry something embellished.

Mehndi and dholki

Mehndi functions are colourful, relaxed and usually involve dancing. You want something light that you can wear across the body so your hands are free for the dholak, the mehndi plate and taking photos.

Try: the Floral Charm Cross Body (Rs. 2,100), with a pearl handle and gold-tone chain, or the embroidered Blossom Cross Body in Pink (Rs. 1,600), which looks lovely with yellow, green and orange mehndi outfits.

Baraat

The baraat is the most formal event of the wedding. Choose a structured, elegant bag that you can hold in your hand or on a short strap. Deep and rich colours — maroon, black, gold tones — suit heavy formal wear.

Try: the Black Bow Elegance Cross Body (Rs. 2,250) for a classic look, or the boxy Majestic Box in Mint Green (Rs. 1,800) if your outfit is in pastels.

Walima and receptions

Walima outfits often lean towards soft pastels, champagne, silver and ivory. A bag in a muted shade keeps the look elegant.

Try: the Flap Square Bag in Soft Mauve (Rs. 1,900) or the Peach Hobo Luna (Rs. 2,250).

Eid day and Eid milan

Eid means visiting several homes in one day, collecting (and giving) Eidi, and carrying gifts. A slightly larger bag is practical here — you'll want room for envelopes, your phone, a small perfume and a comb.

Try: the Royal Canvas Tote (Rs. 2,099) with its sequin border, or the hand-embroidered Gul Bahar Canvas Tote (Rs. 2,499). Both feel festive while still carrying everything.

Matching bag colour to your outfit

Outfit colour Bag colours that work
Red, maroon, deep pink Black, gold tones, beige
Emerald, bottle green Black, beige, peach
Pastels (mint, peach, powder pink) Ivory, beige, mauve or a matching pastel
Ivory, white, champagne Maroon, mauve, black
Black Almost anything — try pink, maroon or mint for contrast

What to pack in your wedding bag

  • Phone and a small power bank — functions run late
  • Lipstick, compact powder and a few bobby pins
  • Safety pins for your dupatta
  • A folded envelope for salami or gifts
  • A small tissue pack and a mint

Plan ahead for wedding season

The weeks before Eid and the winter wedding season are the busiest time for online orders in Pakistan, so order your bag early to have it in hand before the function. Check our shipping policy for delivery details, and remember that orders above Rs. 3,499 ship free.
